PhD in Engineering Sciences (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and Psychology (KU Leuven). My PhD thesis focused on the influence that sound can have on the perception of taste and flavours. In my R&D work, I apply consumer behavioural theory in order to better understand how our senses interact in the brain. On top of that, I have more than 10 years of professional experience in the private sector, mostly related to advertising, audiovisual production, and project managing. So far, my scientific studies have shown that it is possible to use, not only sound, but all of our senses in order to have a significant perceptual influence on the consumer?s eating and drinking behaviour. Moreover, we have also been able to systematically prove that music can add hedonic value into food and beverage experiences. I believe that this line of research will have a tremendous social impact in the near-mid future, especially when considering the potential of applying such knowledge in the context of Digital Marketing and Innovation. As a researcher, I collaborate actively with a multicultural team of professionals from Oxford U., KU Leuven, Plymouth U., Radboud U., Philips Research Labs, EMBRAPA, VUB, among others. I am also applying our research outcomes as means for entrepreneurship, and social valorisation. We are also working extensively on transferring our ideas into sensory, experiential and meaningful business related solutions (see www.thesoundofchocolate.be as an example of the recent outcomes of my research). In terms of internationalisation, I lived in 5 countries and I speak 4 languages fluently (English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese). During my academic years I have gained teaching experience among different disciplines as well, from hard to social sciences.
