Jonny Carlos da Silva

Born in João Pessoa (PB), graduated in Mechanical Engineering from UFPB ? Federal University of Paraíba. He worked as an engineer with the Alumar Consortium (ALCOA, São Luiz-MA). He has lived in Florianópolis since 1988, carrying out master's and doctoral degrees in engineering at UFSC ? Federal University of Santa Catarina, where he has been teaching since 1993, and is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has specialization from the Kyushu International Center (Japan). He was a visiting researcher at the University of Lancaster, England, carrying out part of his doctoral project there. During EXPO2000, this project was recognized with the Shaping the Future Award, by the University of Hannover, Germany. He developed his postdoctoral research at NASA, Silicon Valley, California. His lines of research are Artificial Intelligence and Design, with more than 50 published papers and more than 40 completed academic advising projects. At UFSC, he acted as director of the internship department, coordinator of the undergraduate course in mechanical engineering, of the PosMEC- Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, of NEDIP (Integrated Product Development Nucleus), member of the Chamber of Education of Graduation, of the Post-Graduate Chamber and of the University Council. He has a background in Coaching & NLP. Author of the book: Start Career Work, which brings a new perspective on the Final Course Project. In recent years, he has been giving talks on career and international experience at universities such as: USP, UNESP, UnB, UFSC, UFSM, UFMT, UFG, UDESC, UNISOCIESC, UNISUL and FURB. Since 1985, he has been a member of the Baha'i Community, working on topics such as Education, Harmony between Science and Religion and Human Rights. Natural de João Pessoa (PB), graduado em Engenharia Mecânica pela UFPB. Atuou como engenheiro junto ao Consórcio Alumar (ALCOA, São Luiz-MA). Desde 1988 reside em Florianópolis, realizou mestrado e doutorado em engenharia pela UFSC, onde leciona desde 1993, sendo atualmente Professor Titular junto ao Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica. Na UFSC, desempenhou as funções de diretor do departamento de estágio, coordenador do curso de graduação em engenharia mecânica, do PosMEC- Programa de Pós-Graduação Eng. Mecânica, do NEDIP (Núcleo de Desenvolvimento Integrado de Produtos), membro da Câmara de Ensino de Graduação, da Câmara de Pós-Graduação e do Conselho Universitário. Tem formação em Coaching & PNL. Autor do livro: Trabalho de Começo de Carreira, que traz uma nova visão sobre o TCC. Nos últimos anos, vem proferindo palestras sobre carreira e experiência internacional em universidades como: USP, UNESP, UnB, UFSC, UFSM, UFMT, UTFPR, UFG, UDESC, UNISOCIESC, UNISUL e FURB.
