Bruno Ferreto Fiorillo

As a biologist and researcher, I am interested in gathering natural history information and in understanding the effects of landscape variations on vertebrates. I have started my career at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) studying anuran natural history. After graduating in Biological Sciences, I worked as technician at the Chico Mendes Institute (ICMBio) during 2012, where I took part in the assessment of the conservation status of Brazilian snake species and participated in the publication of the red book of Brazilian threatened species, published in 2018. Later, I acquired my MSc in animal biology (also at UNESP). Although my dissertation focused on the ecology and natural history of a snake assemblage from the Atlantic Forest in the Southeast region of Brazil, I also investigated the same topics of the local amphibian assemblage. During my Ph.D. in Applied Ecology (at Universidade de São Paulo) I investigated the relationship between vegetation complexity and the diversity of Squamates in an area of the Cerrado. Now as the founder of Herp Trips, I aim to share my experiences in the herpetological world with people.

Como biólogo e pesquisador, estou interessado em adquirir informações sobre história natural e em compreender os efeitos das variações da paisagem sobre os vertebrados. Comecei minha carreira na Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) estudando história natural de anuros. Após me formar em Ciências Biológicas, fui auxiliar técnico do Instituto Chico Mendes (ICMBio) em 2012, onde participei da avaliação do estado de conservação das espécies de serpentes brasileiras e da publicação do livro vermelho das espécies brasileiras ameaçadas de extinção, publicado em 2018. Posteriormente, obtive meu mestrado em biologia animal (também pela UNESP). Embora minha dissertação tenha abordado a ecologia e história natural de uma comunidade de serpentes da Mata Atlântica na região sudeste do Brasil, também abordei os mesmos temas em um estudo paralelo, da comunidade de anfíbios do mesmo local. Durante meu doutorado em Ecologia Aplicada (pela Universidade de São Paulo) investiguei as relações entre a complexidade da vegetação e a diversidade de répteis Squamata, em uma área do Ecossistema Cerrado. Agora como fundador da Herp Trips almejo compartilhar com as pessoas minhas experiências no mundo da herpetologia.
