Marcel Cadaval Pereira

I have over 18 years of international experience (England, Brazil and US) as an architect and educator.After completing a bachelor degree in Architecture and Urbanism in 2001, I spent 5 years between academy and practice. I was teaching studio classes at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) School of Architecture and simultaneously I worked as a consultant on projects of re-development and planning of inner-city slums (Favela Bairro) and the doc-lands of Rio de Janeiro.I moved to the London, UK in 2006 to join Terry Farrell studio as a Project Architect where I had a fundamental role in a 150,000 Sq ft office building planning application process (in Coventry) and managing the Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan, among other projects. From 2007 to 2011 I worked for HLM architects as a Senior Urban Designer and Project Leader and had played a strategic role at the major projects of its London branch (Mixed Use and Social Housing). Upon returning to Brazil in 2011 I was hired as Assistant Professor at Unisuam University School of Architecture where I taught courses of architectural and urban design as well as continued working as consultant in a variety of architecture and urban planning schemes. From 2015 to 2019 I lived in Atlanta US, and taught studio classes at Kennesaw State University School of Architecture. At the time, I was also Visiting Scholar at Georgia Tech School of Architecture where I developed my doctorate research. My dissertation was approved in July 2019 in a collaboration between the Graduate School of Engineering of UFRJ and the Georgia Tech School of Architecture. I am living in Paris, France now, since May 2019.My current work and research interrogate the association of Digital Design (ex. BIM) and the neoliberal logic of the construction sector as well as the cognitive impact of these ?innovative? software over the design process.I was educated at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (D.Sc. Industrial Engineering 2019, M.Sc. Architecture 2005, BA Architecture and Urbanism, 2001).

Has experience in Architecture and Urbanism, focusing on Planning and Projects of the Construction, acting on the following subjects: projeto, arquitetura residencial, paisagem urbana, arquitetura comercial and paisagem e comércio.
