Patrícia Cardoso de Andrade received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration on Biomedical Engineering from the University of Campinas (2022), where she studied how the shape of the skull affects the focus of an ultrasound beam. At the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, she worked as a research assistant creating an in silico model for low-intensity targeted ultrasound brain therapies.
She worked in the statistical physics field throughout my academic career, concentrating on issues like the free energy of the formation of a chemical substitution impurity and the thermodynamics of a crystalline lattice with substitution defects and fourth-order anharmonic interactions in the lattice vibrational mode. She graduated with a Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2017 from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), where she also worked on creating an ultrasound-based thermometry system for tracking material temperatures.
She graduated in 2022 with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialty in Biomedical Engineering, she also has teaching experience; from 2013 to 2015, she worked as a physics teacher for the State of Goiás' Department of Education and Culture. She also participated as a math and physics teacher in two UFG extension projects. She worked for two consecutive semesters in the course "Mathematical Methods in Electrical Engineering" provided by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNICAMP as part of the Teaching Internship Program (PED) while pursuing my Ph.D.
She belongs to several professional organizations, including the IEEE Women in Engineering (IEEE WIE), the Brazilian Society of Physics (SBF), the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB), and the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (IEEE UFFC). In 2021 and 2022, lend a helping hand with the IEEE Latin America Ultrasonics Symposium (LAUS) and UFFC-S Latin America Webinar Series. She placed third in the SBEB Antônio Fernando Catelli Infantosi Young Researchers Award in 2020.
Her expertise includes computer simulations, ultrasonic signal processing, physics instruction, problem-based learning techniques, phantom characterization, and in silico models for low-intensity targeted ultrasound brain treatments. She also exhibits engagement and continued interest in the subject of biomedical engineering through her participation in professional associations, communication skills, and collaborative abilities.
