Joseph Murray
Joseph Murray is director of the Human Development and Violence Research Centre (DOVE) and a full professor at the Postgraduate Programme in Epidemiology, at the Federal University of Pelotas in Brazil. He previously worked and trained at the Institute of Criminology, and Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, and at University College, Oxford University. His research focuses on life-course determinants and prevention of conduct problems and violence. His main projects are embedded in four birth cohort studies following 20,000 families and children in Brazil. He received the Manuel Lopez-Rey prize, and the Nigel Walker prize in criminology from the University of Cambridge, and the Distinguished New Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology Division of Corrections and Sentencing. He has held fellowships with the British Academy, Darwin College Cambridge, and the Wellcome Trust, and currently holds an Investigator Award with the Wellcome Trust, and a Highly Productive Researcher Award with CNPq, Brazil.
Joseph Murray é Professor Titular do Departamento de Medicina Social e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Epidemiologia, da Universidade Federal de Pelotas e Coordenador do Centro de Pesquisas em Desenvolvimento Humano e Violência (DOVE: www.doveresearch.org) na UFPel. Os interesses principais de pesquisa do Dr Murray incluem desenvolvimento socioemocional, problemas de conduta, violência e crime, pela perspectiva do ciclo-vital. Fez sua graduação na Universidade de Oxford, Inglaterra e seu mestrado, doutorado e pós doutorado na Universidade de Cambridge. Recebeu o Prêmio Manuel Lopez-Rey (Universidade de Cambridge, 2002), o Prêmio Nigel Walker (Universidade de Cambridge, 2007), o Prêmio Distinguished New Scholar (American Society of Criminology, Division of Corrections and Sentencing, 2008), além de Fellowships da British Academy (Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2006) e da Wellcome Trust (Research Career Development Fellowship, 2010). Atualmente tem um Investigator Award da Wellcome Trust e é bolsista de produtividade do CNPq.
