Mariah Wuerges

Doutoranda e Mestre em Ecologia pelo Programa de Pós graduação em Ecologia da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Bacharela e Licenciada em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brasil. Esteve ao longo de sua graduação, vinculada ao Laboratório de Ecologia Terrestre Animal, ECZ, UFSC. Participou de intercâmbio estudantil pelo programa Ciência sem Fronteiras, no período de um ano, na Universidade de Stirling, Escócia, Reino Unido, onde realizou também um estágio de três meses com evolução de plantas. Realizou seu trabalho de Conclusão de Curso com Ecologia Comportamental de Besouros escarabeíneos, vinculada ao Laboratório de Ecologia Terrestre Animal ECZ, UFSC e, sua dissertação de mestrado com Metacomunidades em ambientes naturalmente heterogêneos, também vinculada ao Laboratório de Ecologia Terrestre Animal ECZ, UFSC. Atualmente exerce pesquisa de doutorado acerca do efeito dos barramentos sobre a biodiversidade das florestas ribeirinhas da Bacia do Alto Rio Uruguai, junto ao grupo de pesquisa Biodiversidade e conservação do Laboratório de Biodiversidade de Conservação e também junto ao Laboratório de Ecologia Humana e Etnobotânica, pela UFSC.

PhD student and Master in Ecology by the Postgraduate Program in Ecology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Bachelor and Degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. During his graduation, she was linked to the Laboratory of Terrestrial Animal Ecology, ECZ, UFSC. She participated in a student exchange through the Science without Borders program, over a year, at the University of Stirling, Scotland, United Kingdom, where she also did a three-month internship with plant evolution. She completed her coursework with Behavioral Ecology of Dung Beetles, linked to the Animal Terrestrial Ecology Laboratory ECZ, UFSC and, her master's dissertation with Metacommunities in naturally heterogeneous environments, also linked to the Animal Terrestrial Ecology Laboratory ECZ, UFSC. She is currently carrying out doctoral research on the effect of dams on the biodiversity of riverside forests in the Upper Rio Uruguay Basin, together with the Biodiversity and Conservation Research Group at the Conservation and Biodiversity Laboratory and also at the Human Ecology and Ethnobotany Laboratory, at UFSC .
