Brancilene Santos de Araújo

B.S. in Chemistry from Federal University of Alagoas (1998), M.S. in Chemistry and Biotechnology from Federal University of Alagoas (2000) and Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biotechnology from Federal University of Alagoas (2004) with a Visiting Scholar Term II grant in Pennsylvania State University (2003). Has experience in Environmental Chemistry in the subjects of phytoremediation, phenol degradation analysis and enzyme use to decontaminate the environment. Has previously used spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods such as UV-Vis, TLC, CG-MS and HPLC, besides extraction and isolation of natural compounds. The main focus of research is Biotechnology, involving tissue culture, in vitro enzymology, elicitation, mutagenesis, protein and DNA analysis. Actually, she is the Assistant Head of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology (PROBIO) of the Federal University of Sergipe.

Possui curso técnico em Química Industrial (1993), é bacharel em Química pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas (1998) e concluiu o Mestrado em Química e Biotecnologia também pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas (2000). Obteve o Doutorado em Química e Biotecnologia pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas com período sanduíche na Pennsylvania State University em 2003. Tem experiência na área de Química, com ênfase em Química Ambiental atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: fitorremediação, análise de compostos fenólicos e uso de enzimas na descontaminação ambiental. Tem experiência em métodos cromatográficos (CCD, HPLC, CG), métodos espectrofotométricos, extração, isolamento e análise de substâncias, além de métodos biotecnológicos (cultura de tecidos, enzimologia, elicitação in vitro). Atualmente, é Coordenadora Adjunta do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biotecnologia (PROBIO).
