Mariana Menezes Prata Bezerra Fuentes

My main research interests focus on conservation planning, natural resource management, and on climate change impacts on marine mega-fauna. I have used marine turtles as a lens to explore these themes; where I integrate innovative modeling with field-based ecology and geographic spatial analysis to determine how marine turtles will be impacted by climate change and develop science based solutions for their conservation and management. I was awarded a PhD Cum Laude (university medal) in May 2010 from James Cook University, Australia. During my PhD I assessed the vulnerability of the northern Great Barrier Reef (nGBR) green turtle population to climate change. At James Cook University, in 2004, I also completed a BSc with 1st class Honours in Marine Biology and Environmental Sciences. I am currently undertaking an ARC Super Science Fellowship, where I am developing systematic priorities for the management of marine mega-fauna as climate change progresses.
