Theodore B Henry

Ted Henry is the Executive Dean (Head of School) of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS), Heriot-Watt University. HWU is a prominent UK university with >70% of programs recognized as internationally excellent and world leading. Programs are delivered across four international campuses (UK, Malaysia, Dubai) and HWU was the international university of the year in the UK (2018). The School of EGIS has >300 staff and ~3000 students with six Research Institutes that span engineering, life and earth sciences, and social sciences. The Executive Dean develops the strategic plan to deliver growth and financial targets along the key themes identified in HWU Strategy 2025 targeting top 300 performance in QS rankings for all areas of the School. Manages the EGIS Director of Learning & Teaching (DLT) and Director of Research (DoR) and Directors of Institutes (DoI) for the six EGIS Research Institutes to respond to key Global Challenges through a multidisciplinary and multi-campus approach. He leads development and coordination of the HWU Denis Goldberg Scholarship program for southern Africa with charity partner Challenges Worldwide. Ted Henry is Professor of Environmental Toxicology- Institute of Life and Earth Sciences, School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS), Heriot-Watt University- Principal investigator and co-investigator on projects related to the pathophysiology and ecotoxicology of contaminants in aquatic organisms. Director of the Zebrafish Research Facility and Ecotoxicology and Pathophysiology of Aquatic Organisms Research Program (http://epaquatic.org/). Co-coordinator of the Consortium for Plastics and Sustainability (COMPASS; https://compass.hw.ac.uk/) mapping the future for plastics in the environment and global economy. Coordinator of UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) Unit of Assessment 7 (Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences) 2021 for HWU. Lead undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Biostatistical Analysis and Research Design and Analysis; teach topics of molecular ecotoxicology, aquatic toxicology, histopathology.
