Rita Cristina Carvalho de Medeiros Couto

Graduated in History from the University of São Paulo (1986), with a Masters and PhD in Social History from the University of São Paulo (1994 and 1999). She carried out an interdisciplinary study on the relationship between Neuroscience and Society in Post Doctoral (2009), together with the Laboratory of Neurophysiology and Neurobehavioral Assessment of the Biomedical Center (LAN), connected to the Roberto Alcântara Gomes Institute of Biology of the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Post-Doctorate by the Department of History of F.F.L.C.H of the University of São Paulo (2016).Collaborating Researcher of the Khronos Research Group: History of Science, Epistemology and Medicine; A partnership between the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA-USP) and the Inter-Center for the History of Science (CHC-USP). Member of the research group on History and Philosophy of Neuroscience (GPHFN), linked to the Interunit Center of History of Science (CHC-USP) and the Institute of Psychology (IP) of USP. Develops the themes Psychiatry; Eugenics; Genre; Neuroscience-Society and Scientific Dissemination.

Possui graduação em pela Universidade de São Paulo (1986), mestrado em pela Universidade de São Paulo (1994) e doutorado em História Social pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999). Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em História do Brasil República, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: gênero, eugenia, psiquiatria, neurociência (s), medicina e loucura.
