Hae Yong Kim

I was born in Korea in 1964 and migrated to Brazil in 1975. In the entrance exam to the University of São Paulo (USP), I received the third highest score among approximately 11000 candidates for Mathematical Sciences, and ended up graduating in 1988 with the best average score in Computer Science. I am M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (1992) and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1997), both from USP. Since 1989, I lecture at USP, and I am currently associate professor (level 3) in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, Polytechnic School, USP. Since 2002, I receive the "productivity scholarship" of CNPq. My research interests include the general area of processing and analysis of images and videos, object recognition, computer security, machine learning, and tomography.

Nasci na Coréia em 1964 e migrei para Brasil em 1975. No vestibular para a Universidade de São Paulo (USP), recebi a terceira melhor nota entre aproximadamente 11000 candidatos a Ciências Exatas, e terminei a graduação em 1988 com a melhor nota média em Ciência da Computação. Sou mestre em Matemática Aplicada (1992) e doutor em Engenharia Elétrica (1997), ambos pela USP. Desde 1989, sou professor da USP, e atualmente sou professor associado 3 no Departamento de Engenharia de Sistemas Eletrônicos, Escola Politécnica, USP. Meus interesses de pesquisa incluem a área geral de processamento e análise de imagens e vídeos, reconhecimento de objetos, segurança computacional, aprendizado de máquina, e tomografia.
