I'm full professor at the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, of the Faculty of Philososphy and Human Sciences (FAFICH)
of the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where i teach lessons in graduate and postgraduate course. I also was sub-coordinator
of the Master in Anthropology (2006-2008), sub-coordinator in the anthropology course (2009-2011) Head of Sociology and Anthropology Department and at the moment I'm Head of the Anthropology and Archaeology Department (2011-). I received scholarships from CONICET (Argentina), FAPESP (Brazil) and CNPQ (Brazil). My academical formation includes: graduation in Anthropology with archaeological orientation by the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), especialization in History and Critic of Architecture by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires (1995-1997) and Ph. D. in History by the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (1998-2001). I also made two post-doctorates, the first in archaeology in the CONICET (2001-2003) and the second in History in the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2004-2005). As researcher, I have published more than a dozen books and more than 60 articles (on national and international magazines). I carried out more than 40 fiedworks in historical archaeology in Brazil, Argentina and Antarctica. From 1995/96 I conduct an international project to study the first human occupation strategies in Antarctica, with funding of CONICET, FONCyT and at the moment of the CNPq. I'm coordinator of the Laboratory of Antarctic Studies in Human Sciences of the FAFICH-UFMG. I was a researcher in the CONICET (Argentina) and visiting professor in the University of Buenos Aires and UNICAMP. At the moment I'm correspondent researcher at CONICET (Ad honorem) and visiting professor in the Master in Archaeology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and (UFS).

Representante da Area de Arqueologia no CNPq (entre 2017 e 2019). Minha formação inclui; graduação em Antropologia com orientação em Arqueologia na Faculdade de Filosofia e Letras da Universidade de Buenos Aires (1988-1994), Especialização em Historia e Critica da Arquitetura na Faculdade de Desenho, Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de Buenos Aires (1995-1997) e Doutorado em Historia na Unicamp (1998-2001). Também fiz dois pós-doutorados, um em Arqueologia no CONICET (2001-2003) e outro em Historia na UNICAMP (2004-2005). Como pesquisador, tenho publicado diversos livros, e mais de 100 artigos (em revistas e livros nacionais e internacionais). Realizei mais de 40 trabalhos de campo em arqueologia histórica no Brasil e no exterior. Desde 1995/96 coordeno um projeto internacional para estudar as primeiras estratégias humanas de ocupação da Antártica, com financiamentos do CONICET, FONCyT, CNPq, e FAPEMIG. Desde 2009, sou coordenador do Laboratório de Estudos Antárticos em Ciências Humanas da FAFICH-UFMG. Fui pesquisador do CONICET (Argentina) e professor visitante na Universidade de Buenos Aires, Unicamp, UFRJ, UFS, UFPI e Universidade de Boston. Atualmente sou pesquisador Correspondiente, do CONICET (Ad Honorem). Sou editor responsável, junto ao Profa. Dra. Melisa Salerno, da Revista Vestígios: Revista Latino americana de Arqueologia Histórica, e também fui em varias ocasiões editor da revista Arqueologia da SAB, assim como participo de diversas comissões editorias em revistas nacionais e internacionais. Meus temas de interesse são teoria arqueológica, arqueologia histórica, arqueologia da arquitetura, arqueologia da repressão-resistencia e arqueologia antártica.
