Maria Andréia Formico Rodrigues

Andreia Formico, serving as Full Professor at the University of Fortaleza (PPGIA and CCT), Brazil since 2002, was a CAPES Visiting Researcher Scholar at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), USA between 2017 and 2018. She earned her Ph.D. from Imperial College London, UK and currently instructs in Computer Graphics, Computer Animation, and Digital Games. Her leadership roles include General Chair and Program Co-Chair for SIBGRAPI, the preeminent forum in South America for research in Computer Graphics, Patterns, and Images. She was the Program Chair for the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Games and Digital Entertainment (SBGames 2015) and Co-Chair of the 19th Symposium on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Graduate Workshop (WTD SVR 2017). She also contributed as part of the five-member Steering Committee of CEJOGOS (2017-2018). Formico has actively participated as a PC member for the IEEE International Conference on Serious Games and Applications for Health (SeGAH), High Performance Graphics (HPG 2022), and the CSBC/SBC Concurso de Teses e Dissertações. Her editorial roles include Invited Editor for the Elsevier Entertainment Computing Journal (since 2019) and Associate Editor for the ACM Computers in Entertainment Journal (2012-2018). Since 2020, she presides over CEJOGOS of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). Currently, she serves as Managing Guest Editor for special issues of the Elsevier Entertainment Computing Journal and the Elsevier Graphical Models. Her research interests span across computer games, real-time computer graphics, collision detection and physics simulations, virtual reality applications, computer vision, deep learning, and user experience. graduate at Matemática Aplicada e Computacional from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1989), master's at Electric Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1993) and ph.d. at Computer Science from Imperial College Of Science Technology And Medicine (1999). Has experience in Computer Science, focusing on Graphical Processing (Graphics), acting on the following subjects: laryngoscopy, simulation, deformable models, computer graphics and tratamento ortodôntico.
