Marcelo Lúcio Correia de Amorim

Graduado em Sistemas de Informação (FSM, 2009) e em Letras/Libras (UFSC, 2012), Mestrado e Doutorado em Ciência da Computação (Centro de Informática, UFPE, 2012 e 2020, respectivamente), Pós-doutorando em Linguística (UFSC, 2023). Atualmente, atuo como Professor do curso de Bacharelado em Letras, com ênfase em Tradução e Interpretação de Libras, na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Vice-presidente da Federação Brasileira das Associações dos Profissionais Tradutores e Intérpretes e Guia-Intérpretes de Língua de Sinais (Febrapils). Embora tenha uma sólida formação e experiência em Tecnologias da Informação, Mídia e Interação e Educação a Distância, nos últimos anos, meu foco tem se acentuado na tradução e interpretação de línguas de sinais. Ao longo da minha trajetória, contribuí para pesquisas em interação humano-computador, ambientes virtuais de ensino e aprendizagem e estudos aprofundados de Libras. Estou profundamente comprometido em bridar e ampliar a compreensão e aceitação da Libras no cenário acadêmico e além.

Graduated in Information Systems (FSM, 2009) and in Languages/Libras (UFSC, 2012), I hold a Master's and Ph.D. in Computer Science (Center for Informatics, UFPE, 2012 and 2020, respectively), and am currently a Post-doctoral fellow in Linguistics (UFSC, 2023). I currently serve as a Professor for the Bachelor's degree in Letters, with an emphasis on Translation and Interpretation of Libras, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). I am the Vice-President of the Brazilian Federation of Associations of Professional Translators, Interpreters, and Guide-Interpreters of Sign Language (Febrapils). While I have a strong background and experience in Information Technology, Media and Interaction, and Distance Education, in recent years, my focus has shifted more towards translation and interpretation of sign languages. Throughout my career, I have contributed to research in human-computer interaction, virtual learning environments, and in-depth studies of Libras. I am deeply committed to bridging and broadening the understanding and acceptance of Libras in the academic setting and beyond.
