Artur Sass Braga

Artur Sass Braga (Ph.D.) is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Civil Engineering at Queen?s University working under supervision of Professor Yves Filion (PhD, PEng, ing., D.WRE). His main research investigates the water quality deterioration in drinking water pipe networks due accumulation of particulate material and biofilms on pipe walls. Artur operates a unique full-scale experimental facility that simulate real water networks. Artur holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, completed at Queen's University (Canada), where he developed new methods for analyze realistic pipe wall samples for material accumulation process and evaluated the microscopic processes of iron oxide particles accumulation on smooth PVC pipes. He used a multidisciplinary approach that involves the fields of hydraulics, sediment transport, water chemistry and microbiology. Previously, he completed a master?s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil, and a Bachelor and Teaching degree in Physics at the same university. Along his profeesional career, Artur has developed skills on multiple fields, including: general manufacturing, experimental schemes for engineering research, sensors manufacturing and applications, electronic circuits board manufacturing, 3D printing, programming, data-management and project-management.
