Daniel Abreu is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT, Sinop Campus), Brazil. Daniel received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Science/Sustainable Agriculture at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa and University of New Hampshire, U.S. He was also an exchange student at the University of Minnesota (UMN), a relationship that he has since strengthened through collaborations on agricultural research and extension. Dr. Abreu leads the Brazilian Agricultural Sustainability Research and Education Program (AgriSciences) in collaboration with leading universities around the world. His academic experience and extension activities are focused on agriculture intensification and promotion of sustainability and stewardship of the land. To that end, he has developed applied research and outreach programs in the areas of crop, forage, farm management and crop-livestock integration systems in MT. Daniel's outreach programs focus on delivering on-farm education in the areas of soil health, nutrient management, integrated systems, and crop/forage production. His field research, supported with agricultural modeling, focus on the development of sustainable cropping systems in the Global South.
Engenheiro Agrônomo pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Viçosa, MG, BRA) no ano de 2008, com graduação sanduíche na University of Minnesota (Saint Paul, MN, EUA). Possui Mestrado e Doutorado pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Foi Research Scholar na área de Agricultura Sustentável na University of New Hampshire (Durham, NH, EUA) desenvolvendo pesquisas na região de New England (EUA) em parceria com a University of Maine (Orono, ME, EUA). Atualmente é professor do Instituto de Ciências Agrárias e Ambientais da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (Sinop, MT, BRA), Campus Universitário de Sinop. Coordenador do Programa AgriSciences (agrisciences.org.br) de pesquisa aplicada e extensão rural. Tem experiência na área de Ciências Agrárias, com ênfase em Agropecuária Sustentável, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: intensificação sustentável, produção agropecuária, extensão rural, modelagem biológica computacional aplicada a sistemas agrícolas, avaliação técnica, econômica e ambiental de sistemas de produção agropecuários.
