Heidy Mayerly Quitian-Lara

Bachelor of Chemistry (2013) at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), Colombia. MSc. (2016) and DSc. (2020) in Astronomy at the Observatório do Valongo (OV) of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil (DSc. advisors: Prof. Dr. Heloisa M. Boechat-Roberty, Prof. Dr. Bertrand Lefloch) with a Capes Fellowship. Summer intern at the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE, Mexico, 2012, host: Prof. Dr. Y. Divakara Mayya, Prof. Dr. Daniel Rosa-Gonzalez) with a Conacyt Fellowship. Visiting researcher at the Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble (IPAG, France, 2018, host: Prof. Dr Bertrand Lefloch) and at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC, Spain, 2019, host: Prof. Dr José Cernicharo) with a COSPAR Capacity Building Fellowship and visiting researcher at the Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry of the Julius Maximillians University Würzburg, Germany (2020-2021, host: Prof. Dr Ingo Fischer). She has experience in experimental astrochemistry, using synchrotron radiation and electron impact, both coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry in the gas phase and astrophysical ice analogues. She conducted experiments in distinct synchrotron laboratory facilities, such as Laboratório Nacional de Luz Síncrotron (LNLS, Brazil) and Swiss Light Source (SLS, Switzerland). She also has experience in analysis and identification of chemical species observed in the millimetre spectrum using single-dish radio telescopes. Dr Quitián-Lara is the coordinator and supervisor of Red Estudiantes Colombianos Astronomia (RECA) and is currently supervising two undergraduates Chemistry students at UIS and the University of Nariño (UdeNar), and an undergraduate astronomy student at the University of Antioquia (UdeA).
