Roland Walter is Full Professor of English, Comparative Literature, and Literary Theory at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Recife, Brazil. He is the author of three books, Magical Realism in Contemporary Chicano Fiction (Vervuert,1993), Narrative Identities: (Inter)Cultural In-Betweenness in the Americas (Peter Lang, 2003) and Afro-América: Diálogos Literários na Diáspora Negra das Américas (Bagaço,2009) and has edited the e-book As Américas: Encruzilhadas Glocais (2007) and co-edited the books Narrações da Violência Biótica (2010) and Entre Centros e Margens: Literaturas Afrodescendentes da Diáspora (2014). He has published widely in academic journals throughout the Americas and Europe as well as many book chapters on diverse aspects of Inter-American literature. He has been an Associate Editor of the MELUS Journal (USA) from 1997-2006 and a Research Affiliate with GIRA (Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Recherche sur les Amériques), Montréal, Canada between 2002 and 2016. In 2004 he was a Visiting Professor at the Eberhard?Karls Universität, Tübingen, Germany. In 2006, he received a Research Scholarship from the Canadian Government. He is on the Editorial Board of several Brazilian academic journals and works as peer reviewer for 12 academic journals, among them, MELUS (Multi?Ethnic Literature of the United States), African American Review (USA), and Transmodernity (USA). Since 2004 he coordinates the Canadian Studies Program at the UFPE and since 2006 until now he is a Research Fellow of CNPq, the Brazilian National Council for Research. "Magical Realism in Contemporary Chicano Fiction" (Frankfurt: Vervuert, 1993), "Narrative Identities: (Inter)Cultural In-Betweenness in the Americas" (New York/Frankfurt/Bern: Peter Lang, 2003) e "Afro-América: Diálogos Literários na Diáspora Negra das Américas" (Recife: Bagaço, 2009 ? , organizou a coletânea de ensaios críticos "As Américas: Encruzilhadas Glocais" (E-Book/CD-ROM, Recife, 2007) e coorganizou os livros "Narrações da Violência Biótica" (Recife, 2010) e "Centros e Margens: Literaturas Afrodescendentes da Diáspora" (Curitiba, 2014) e publicou numerosos artigos e capítulos de livro sobre diversos aspectos e temáticas da literatura e teoria (Estudos Culturais e Pós-Coloniais) interamericana no Brasil, na Argentina, em Cuba, no Canadá, nos Estados Unidos, na Alemanha e na Holanda. Além de ser parecerista e fazer parte do conselho editorial de várias revistas científicas (inter)nacionais, Roland Walter foi Editor Associado da revista MELUS (Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States, University of Connecticut, USA) de 1997 até 2006 e Pesquisador Associado do Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Recherche sur les Amériques (GIRA), Montréal de 2002 até 2016..
