Margarida de Souza Neves

Professor de Souza Neves holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) both as a teaching graduation (1966) and as a history research graduation (1967). She has a PhD in History from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1975). She is a retired professor from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and is is currently professor emeritus of the History Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Professor de Souza Neves lectures and researchs in the field of History, with emphasis in Social History of Culture, and works mainly on the following themes: memory and history, literature and history, cultural history, city and history, and Brazilian social thought. She was head of the Memory Center from PUC-Rio from its foundation (2006) until 2021 and is developing a research project on the theme "Science and Prejudice: Epilepsy in Brazilian Medical Thought". É graduada em História, com o título de Bacharel (1967), e de Licenciada (1966), ambos pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Tem Doutorado em História pela Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1975). Atualmente é professora emérita do Departamento de História da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Coordenou o Núcleo de Memória da PUC-Rio de 2006 a 2021 e hoje é pesquisadora desse Núcleo. Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em História Social da Cultura, e trabalha principalmente nos seguintes temas: memória e história, literatura e história, história cultural, cidade e história e pensamento social brasileiro. Atualmente é pesquisadora do Núcleo de Memória da PUC-Rio.
