Nicole Chagas Lima

Nicole Lima is a professor, researcher and visual artist. Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from UFPR, she migrated to art, getting a masters degree from UDESC and a PHD in Visual Arts from UNICAMP. In addition to her artistic work, she writes critical texts for newspapers and magazines such as Jornal Plural and acts as an art teacher and independent curator. In 2008, she was one of the artists selected by the FCC's Bolsa Produção program. Since then, she has been holding exhibitions in various spaces, such as the Photography Museum, the Engraving Museum and the MuMa, in the city of Curitiba, where she also participated as an artist and curator in the 2015 and 2017 Art Biennials and Invented Women in 2019.Her themes transit between visual narratives about the female body in the history of images and the translation of that same body in the poetics of contemporary artists. In her works, she seeks to re-signify personal memories and reports and those of other people who participate in her processes. In her production, she uses different media: sounds, videos, photographs, objects, sculptures, architecture and even her own body can be a mold and measure for a subjectivity that she believes can be shared by other humans.

Professora, pesquisadora e artista visual. Formada em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela UFPR, migrou para a arte, tornando-se mestre pela UDESC e doutora em Artes Visuais pela UNICAMP. Além de seu trabalho artístico, escreve textos críticos para jornais e revistas como o Jornal Plural e atua como professora de artes e curadora independente. Em 2008, foi uma das artistas selecionadas pelo programa Bolsa Produção da FCC. Desde então, vem realizando exposições em diversos espaços, como o Museu da Fotografia, Museu da Gravura e o MuMa, na cidade de Curitiba, onde também participou como artista e curadora nas Bienais de Arte de 2015 e 2017 e Mulheres Inventadas em 2019.Seus temas transitam entre as narrativas visuais acerca do corpo feminino na histórica das imagens e a tradução desse mesmo corpo nas poéticas de artistas contemporâneas. Em suas obras, busca ressignificar memórias e relatos pessoais e de outras pessoas que participam de seus processos. Em sua produção, utiliza diversas mídias: sons, vídeos, fotografias, objetos, esculturas, arquitetura e até mesmo o seu próprio corpo podem ser molde e medida para uma subjetividade que acredita ser partilhável por outros humanos.
