Maria Helena Silva de Sousa Martinho

Maria Helena Martinho is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Education UMinho and member of the Centre for Research in Education (CIEd). Currently Deputy Director of the research journal in mathematics education - Quadrante, Vice-President of the Mathematics Teachers Association (APM) and Director of the Master in Mathematics Teaching of the 3rd cycle of basic education and secondary education.Recently co-authored the Mathematics program, 3rd cycle basic education, for East Timor; Member of the Supervisory Committee for the Plan of Mathematics II and New Management Basic Education Program (2009-2012) in Portugal. Participated in a teacher training project Online Teaching and Learning & Prof. Development of Teachers in the Rep Maldives (RFP / BAG / 2007/009). Taught Master's courses in Mathematics Teaching and Visual Education, respectively, in East Timor and Pedagogical University in Mozambique. She lectured in different teacher training courses within the Northern Region and at a national level.She has participated in several national and international projects over the past years. She is currently the Coordinator of a FCT funded project on Content area literacies: Features and challenges for more engagement and learning, EXPL / MHC-CED / 0645/2013.Main research interests: teacher practices, mathematical communication, mathematical reasoning and mathematical literacy.

Maria Helena Martinho é professora auxiliar do Instituto de Educação da UMinho e membro do Centro de Investigação em Educação (CIEd). Actualmente Diretora-adjunta da revista de investigação em Educação Matemática - Quadrante, Vice-presidente da Associação de Professores de Matemática e Diretora do Mestrado em Ensino de Matemática do 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e do Ensino Secundário.Recentemente foi co-autora do programa de Matemática, 3º ciclo ensino básico, de Timor-Leste; Membro da Comissão de Acompanhamento do Plano da Matemática II e Gestão do Novo Programa do Ensino Básico (2009-2012) em Portugal. Participou num projeto de formação de professores Online Teaching and Learning & Prof. Development of Teachers in the Rep Maldives (RFP/MALA/2007/009). Lecionou Cursos de Mestrado em Ensino de Matemática e Educação Visual, respetivamente, em Timor-Leste e na Universidade Pedagógica em Moçambique. Tem lecionado diferentes cursos de formação de professores a nível da Região Norte e Nacional.Tem participado em projetos nacionais e internacionais ao longo dos últimos anos. Actualmente é Investigadora Responsável do Projeto financiado pela FCT, Content area literacies: Features and challenges for more engagement and learning, EXPL/MHC-CED/0645/2013.Principais interesses de investigação: práticas dos professores, comunicação matemática, raciocínio matemático, argumentação matemática e literacia matemática.
