Christiano Lyra Filho

Coordinates the Institute for Advanced Studies (IdEA) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and is a Professor in the area of Operations Research of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNICAMP, in são Paulo, Brazil. He was born in 1951 in Recife (Pernambuco, Brazil), finished high school as an AFS exchange student in Philadelphia (PA), in 1970. He received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in 1975, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from UNICAMP, in 1979 and 1984, respectively. Following a brief career with the Power Company of the São Francisco River, he joined the Faculty of UNICAMP in 1978, where he has served as head of the Departmente of Systems Engineering, Director of Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering, Dean of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, member of the Editorial Board of UNICAMP Press, member of the council of PENSES (thinking tank attached to the President's Office) and member of the Board of Trustees of the University. He coordinates the Laboratory for Energy Network Optimization (LABORE), with research interests in the planning, operation and sustainability of energy networks. In 2016 he received the "Zeferino Vaz" award, given by the University of Campinas for outstanding contributions in in teaching, research and service.

É Coordenador do Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IdEA) da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) e Professor Titular em Pesquisa Operacional na Faculdade de Engenharia Elétrica e de Computação da UNICAMP. Nasceu em Recife (1951), concluiu o curso secundário como bolsista do AFS International Scholarships (1970, Filadélfia, Estados Unidos), é graduado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1975), fez mestrado e doutorado na UNICAMP, concluídos em 1979 e 1984, respectivamente. Após início de carreira profissional na Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco, pertence ao quadro docente da UNICAMP desde 1978, onde foi chefe do Departamento de Engenharia de Sistemas, coordenador de pós-graduação em Engenharia Elétrica, diretor da Faculdade de Engenharia Elétrica e de Computação, membro do Conselho Editorial da Editora da UNICAMP, membro do Conselho de Gestão do Fórum Pensamento Estratégico da UNICAMP e representante dos Professores Titulares no Conselho Universitário. Coordena o Laboratório de Otimização de Redes de Energia (LABORE) na sua Faculdade, com atuação em otimização do planejamento, operação e sustentabilidade de redes de energia. Recebeu em 2016 o Prêmio de Reconhecimento Acadêmico "Zeferino Vaz", atribuído pela UNICAMP por destaque em atividades de Docência, Pesquisa e Extensão.
