Jéssica Viana Mendes

I'm a PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Maryland at College Park. I completed my masters degree in Linguistics with the Graduate Program in Semiotics and General Linguistics of the University of São Paulo in 2019. During my master's degree, I studied the interaction between modality and temporality in Brazilian Portuguese. I have a degree in Languages, with qualifications in Linguistics and Portuguese Language. I conducted undergraduate research in which I investigated the reconstruction of DPs in A-chains. I am interested in Formal Semantics, focusing on modality, tense, aspect and quantification.

Sou aluna de PhD em Linguística na University of Maryland at College Park. Concluí o mestrado em Linguística pelo Programa de Pós-graduação em Semiótica e Linguística Geral da Universidade de São Paulo em 2019. Durante o meu mestrado, estudei a interação entre modalidade e temporalidade no Português Brasileiro. Sou graduada em Letras, com habilitações em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa. Fiz uma Iniciação Científica na qual investiguei a reconstrução de DPs em cadeias A. Tenho interesse em Semântica Formal, com foco em modalidade, tempo, aspecto e quantificação.
