Prof. Dr. Alexandre Mendes Abrão

Alexandre M. Abrão holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He received his PhD degree from the School of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Birmingham, UK, in 1995. He is the coauthor of one book, four book chapters and more than 70 journal papers and has supervised seven PhD theses. Currently, he is a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. His main fields of interest are cutting by shearing, nonconventional machining and abrasive processes.

Graduado em Engenharia Mecânica (1989) pela Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos da Universidade de São Paulo e mestre em Engenharia Mecânica (1991) pela mesma instituição. PhD em Engenharia Mecânica e de Manufatura (1995) pela University of Birmingham, Reino Unido. Em 1996 ingressou na Escola de Engenharia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, onde ocupa a função de professor titular desde 2015. Atua na área de Processos de Fabricação, com ênfase em usinagem convencional e não convencional.
