Tiago Paggi de Almeida

My main research interests are biomedical engineering, digital signal processing and modelling of biological signals, cardiac electrophysiology, analysis of cardiac recordings, and multivariate statistical analysis. I have dedicated myself to bridging the gap between signal processing methods, biomedical engineering and industrial processes. During my career, I have introduced and implemented an artificial intelligence protocol at Johnson & Johnson for the price prediction of raw materials to be purchased annually; applied blind source separation techniques to isolate single motor unit activities from surface electromyographic signals; investigated pattern recognition methods in intracardiac signals during heart rhythm disturbances; and applied innovative statistical multivariate statistical models to help in the therapy of cardiac disorders. The main findings of my PhD studies have been published in one of the most prominent journals of Biomedical Engineering and resulted in a clinical pilot study currently being conducted at Glenfield Hospital (Leicester, UK), under my leadership, which will improve our understanding of a cardiac arrhythmia. I have published 6 works in renowned international Journals, more than 30 works in international conferences and concluded 3 supervisions. I currently hold my second postdoctoral position, supervising 4 ongoing investigations. I am currently leading investigations in novel methods to help in the detection and therapy of cardiac arrhythmias.
Possui Graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Estadual Paulista ?Júlio de Mesquita Filho? (2007), Mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2012) e Doutorado pela University of Leicester, UK (2016), onde acompanhou mais de trinta procedimentos clínicos de estudos eletrofisiológicos para o tratamento da fibrilação atrial crônica. Realizou pós-doutorado na Universidade federal do ABC, e atualmente conduz estudos pós-doutorais no Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, Brasil, e no Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Alemanha. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Biomédica, com ênfase processamento de sinais; reconhecimento de padrões; análise e modelagem de sinais biológicos, em especial eletrofisiologia cardíaca; e análise estatística multivariável. Tem breve experiência com gestão de cadeia de suprimentos em empresas de saúde.
