Graduada em Odontologia pela Faculdade de Odontologia de Bauru (FOB), da USP (1992), Mestre em Odontologia, área de Periodontia, pela FOB-USP (1995), Doutora em Biologia Funcional e Molecular pela UNICAMP (1999) e Especialista em Harmonização Orofacial (2021). Foi (2011-2014) membro do Awards Review Committee da International Association for Dental Research (IADR) e membro do Board da European Organisation for Caries Research (ORCA). Foi Presidente do grupo de Cariologia da IADR (2019-2020) e coordenadora da Área de Saúde II (Odontologia) da FAPESP (2018-2022). Foi Chefe do Departamento de Ciências Biológicas (2006-2010) e Presidente da Comissão de Pesquisa (2014-2018) da FOB-USP. Foi Editora Associada do Journal of Applied Oral Sciences e International Journal of Dentistry. Atualmente é Professora Titular do Departamento de Ciências Biológicas e Diretora da FOB-USP, pesquisadora 1A do CNPq e Editora da série Monographs in Oral Sciences (Karger). Tem expertise na área de Odontologia, com ênfase em Cariologia, Bioquímica Bucal e Harmonização Orofacial, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: fluoretos, fluorose dentária, cárie dentária, erosão dentária, biofilme bacteriano, película adquirida, toxicologia, proteômica e agregados plaquetários autólogos. Membro da Academia Brasileira de Odontologia (cadeira 69), desde 2021. Recebeu mais de 70 prêmios, com destaque para Basil Bibby Young Investigator Award in Cariology (IADR, 2008) e IADR Distinguished Scientist Award H. Trendley Dean Memorial Award (2014). Publicou 5 livros e mais de 400 artigos em periódicos de seletiva política editorial. He was Head of the Department of Biological Sciences (2006-2010) and President of the Research Committee (2014-2018) at FOB-USP. She was Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Oral Sciences and the International Journal of Dentistry. She is currently Full Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences and Dean of FOB-USP, 1A researcher at CNPq and Editor of the Monographs in Oral Science series (Karger). She has expertise in Dentistry, with emphasis on Cariology, Oral Biochemistry and Orofacial Harmonization, acting on the following topics: fluorides, dental fluorosis, dental caries, dental erosion, bacterial biofilm, acquired film, toxicology, proteomics and autologous platelets aggregates. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Dentistry (chair 69) since 2021.
