Professora Adjunta da Universidade Federal Fluminense, atuando no Programa de Pós Graduação em Mídia e Cotidiano (PPGMC) e no Departamento de Comunicação Social (GCO) (em afastamento - set 2020 a set 2025) . Realizou pesquisas de pós-doutorado pela Royal Holloway University of London, com bolsa da Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), e Doutora em Estudos de Mídia pela University of Westminster em Londres, com bolsa da Overseas Research Scholarship. Eleita Vice-Presidente da International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR - de 2020 a 2024). Co-investigadora da rede internacional de pesquisas E-Voices: Redressing Marginality (Edital do Arts and Humanities Research Council, 2017-2019). Co-Editora Chefe da Revista Mídia e Cotidiano (PPGMC UFF). Integrante do Grupo de Pesquisas EMERGE (Centro de Pesquisas e Produção em Comunicação e Emergência). Também atuou como professora em diversas universidades no Reino Unido (Bournemouth University, Royal Holloway, London Metropolitan University, University of Westminster - 2006-2013). Mestre em Comunicação e Sociedade pela University of Oregon nos Estados Unidos (2002 - 2004, bolsista Fulbright) e graduada em Comunicação Social com ênfase em Publicidade e Propaganda pela Universidade Católica do Salvador (1995 - 1999). Além da carreira acadêmica, tem mais de dez anos de experiência na área de criação, atuando como redatora em diversas agências de publicidade, especialmente na área de criação para marketing político.

She has also worked as a lecturer at various universities in the UK (Bournemouth University, Royal Holloway, London Metropolitan University, University of Westminster - 2006-2013). Andrea has earned a Master's degree in Communication and Society from the University of Oregon in the United States (2002 - 2004, Fulbright scholar) and a Bachelor's in Social Communications with an emphasis on Advertising and Publicity from the Universidade Católica do Salvador (1995 - 1999). In addition to her academic career, she has over ten years of experience as an advertising copywriter having worked for various advertising agencies. She specialises in political advertising, having been responsible for devising advertising materials (online, TV and radio) for political campaigns all over Brazil.
