Débora Cristina Corrêa

Débora Cristina Corrêa completed her Ph.D in Applied Physics within the option of Computational Physics at University of Sao Paulo in 2012. Her Ph.D involved the development of new strategies to represent music data and to classify music genres, including the use of machine learning and data clustering algorithms, and the analysis of complex networks by means of the adoption of their topological measurements and community detection methods. This research covered applications like music classification, music synthesis and music recommendation and generated publications in the most important conferences in the area of music information retrieval (MIR). Corrêa continued her research in MIR during her ongoing post-doctoral program in computer science at University of Sao Paulo, in which the relationship between music genres and music emotions has been studied with the use of the time series analysis and recurrence networks. Her current research projects also include the exploration of machine learning and deep learning algorithms to the comprehension and classification of data. In the last years, Corrêa won knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Computer Science required to deal with current problems of her research. This is a multidisciplinar characteristic required for a researcher to overcome current challenges in many fields of science.
graduation at Ciência da Computação from Faculdades Coc (2005), master's at Computer Science from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2008) and doctorate at Physics from Universidade de São Paulo (2012). Has experience in Computer Science, acting on the following subjects: music genres, composição musical, redes neurais, rhythm and compassos musicais.
