Giselle Pidde Marques Porto

Biologist, PhD in Biotechnology from the University of São Paulo (2009). She is currently a researcher at the Immunochemical Laboratory of the Butantan Institute. She has experience in the area of biotechnology, with an emphasis on Immunochemistry and Molecular Biology, acting on the following topics: Studies on the immunogenicity of toxins, viral and bacterial vaccines. Genetics of tolerance and immunosuppression; Action of poisons and animal toxins on the Complement System; Immunochemical and functional characterization of toxins from animal poisons; Molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of poisoning species of Loxosceles spiders; Loxoscelism: from basic research to propose new therapies.

Bióloga, Doutora em Biotecnologia pela Universidade de São Paulo (2009). Atualmente é Pesquisadora no Laboratório de Imunoquímica do Instituto Butantan. Tem experiência na área de Biotecnologia, com ênfase em Imunoquímica e Biologia Molecular, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Estudos sobre a imunogenicidade de toxinas, vacinas virais e bacterianas. Genética da tolerância e imunossupressão; Ação de venenos e toxinas animais sobre o Sistema Complemento; Caracterização imunoquímica e funcional das toxinas de venenos animais; Mecanismos moleculares envolvidos na patogênese do envenenamento por espécies de aranhas Loxosceles; Loxoscelismo: da pesquisa básica à proposta de novas terapias.
