Doutora pela Universidade de São Paulo, Mestra pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco e Graduada pela Universidade Católica de Pernambuco, iniciou sua carreira como Botânica estagiando no Herbário IPA, onde se tornou pesquisadora. Prestou consultorias ao Conselho de Defesa do Meio Ambiente da Secretaria de Planejamento e Urbanismo da Prefeitura da Cidade do Recife (CONDEMA) e orientação técnica como botânica responsável no inventário da Vegetação Urbana do Recife, realizado através da Empresa de Urbanização do Recife (URB). Optou pela carreira acadêmica após sua experiência como professora horista na Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, onde prestou concurso público. Participou de projetos científicos que envolveram levantamentos florísticos locais, regionais e em estados de outras regiões brasileiras, trabalhando em diferentes biomas; projetos para a conservação de espaços urbanos e projetos voltados ao estudo de espécies vegetais nativas com potencial uso econômico. Realizou visita técnica remunerada pela Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History (Washington D.C.) para o estudo e identificação de espécies vegetais no herbário US. Foi secretária da Seção Regional de Pernambuco da Sociedade Botânica do Brasil, contribuindo como Redatora e Editora do Boletim Informativo da SBB/SRPE. Tem experiência na área de Botânica, com ênfase em Taxonomia de Angiospermas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: levantamento florístico, estudos sobre as famílias Lauraceae e Commelinaceae, vegetação urbana e espécies nativas ornamentais.
Trained botanist with PhD degree from USP - University of São Paulo, with Master´s degree from UFRPE ? Federal Rural University of Pernambuco and graduate at UNICAP ? Catholic University of Pernambuco, beginning her career in a botanic internship at IPA Herbarium, where she became a resident researcher. She provided consultancies to the Environmental Defense Council of the Department of Planning and Urbanism of the City of Recife (CONDEMA) and technical guidance as responsible botany in the inventory of Urban Vegetation of Recife, carried out through the Urbanization Company of Recife (URB). She opted for an academic career as professor at UFPE ? Federal University of Pernambuco. Participated in scientific projects that involved local, regional and state surveys in other Brazilian regions, working in different biomes; projects in conservation of urban spaces and projects aimed at the study of native plant species with potential economic use. She did a Short Term Visitor at the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History (Washington D.C.) for the study and identification of plant species in the US Herbarium. She was secretary of the Regional Section of Pernambuco of the Botanical Society of Brazil, contributing as Editor and Copywriter at SBB/SRPE´s Newsletter. She has experience in botany, with emphasis on Angiosperm Taxonomy, working mainly on the following topics: floristic survey, studies on the Lauraceae and Commelinaceae families, urban vegetation and ornamental native species.
