Amadeu Mortágua Velho da Maia Soares. Doutor em Zoologia, University of Sheffield, Reino Unido (1989). Provas de Agregação (habilitação para professor catedrático) em Zoologia, Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal (1997). Tem experiência na área de Ecotoxicologia e Biodiversidade Funcional. Foi professor na Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal, até ao ano 2000, ano em mudou, por concurso, para a Universidade de Aveiro, como Professor Associado. A Universidade de Aveiro (UA), Portugal, é uma universidade pública e a única que possui uma estrutura organizacional baseada em Departamentos, unidades orgânicas da universidade que respondem diretamente à reitoria, sem estruturas intermédias do tipo institutos ou faculdades. É Professor Catedrático na UA desde 2004. Dirigiu, entre 02/10/2001 a 30/09/2019, o Departamento de Biologia da UA, onde lidera o grupo de pesquisa em Ecotoxicologia e Biodiversidade Funcional. É vice-coordenador científico do CESAM-Centro de Estudos do Ambiente e do Mar, da UA. Com vasta experiência de participação em comités científicos nacionais e internacionais, de bolsas e projetos, bem como de coordenação de projetos nacionais e internacionais, envolvendo instituições europeias, latino-americanas e asiáticas. Já orientou ou coorientou mais de 80 doutorandos/as e 50 mestrandos/as e foi responsável científico por mais de 40 pesquisadores em pós-doutoramento. Autor/ coautor de mais de 780 artigos no ISI web of Science. Possui um índice h=64. Foi membro fundador e presidente da SETAC-Europe (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) (1996-1997), tendo organizado o 1º congresso mundial da SETAC em Lisboa, em 1993, e o 17º Congresso Anual da SETAC-Europe, no Porto, em 2007. Também é Associate Fellow do Canadian Rivers Institute, Universidade de New Brunswick, Canadá (desde 2006), foi membro do Conselho Estratégico da Universidade Lúrio (Moçambique), é, desde 2011, do Conselho Científico de Aconselhamento do Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research-IDAEA, do Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) e, desde 2017, membro da Comissão de Avaliação Externa do Advancing Canadian Wastewater Assets (ACWA), parceria entre o Município de Calgary e a Universidade de Calgary, Canadá. Já recebeu os seguintes prémios individuais, pela sua carreira científica: 2004: Prémio Estímulo à Excelência, do Ministério da Ciência e Ensino Superior de Portugal. 2007: SETAC Special Award, for the outstanding contribution for the environmental society; 2010: Galardão Gulbenkian/Oceanário de Lisboa: Governação Sustentável dos Oceanos. Responsabilidade Solidária;Capacitar para Conservar. 2013: SETAC-Europe Environmental Education Award, pela sua contribuição para a disseminação e formação, principalmente ao nível da pós-graduação, na área da Ecotoxicologia e Biologia Ambiental. 2015: top-30 no ranking LabTimes: entre os 30 investigadores europeus mais citados na área das Toxicologia, com trabalhos publicados entre 2005 e 2011, no ranking da revista Lab Times construído a partir dos dados ISI Web of Knowledge. Entre 2013 e julho de 2016 foi bolsista PVE no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Produção Vegetal, UFT, Campus de Gurupi, onde possui um histórico de colaboração de mais de 10 anos; É Docente Permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Produção Vegetal-UFT desde Fevereiro de 2017.

PhD in Zoology, from the University of Sheffield (1989); Habilitation for full professorship from the University of Coimbra, Portugal (1997). Main work areas are ecotoxicology and functional biodiversity. Previously professor at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, till 2000, when it moved, by public call, to the University of Aveiro, Portugal, as an Associate Professor. The University of Aveiro (UA) is the only Portuguese public university with a departmental structure only, with no intermediate structures (such as institutes or faculties) between the departments and the rectorate. Full professor at the UA as from 2004. Head of the Department of Biology, at UA, from 02/10/2001 to 30/09/2019, and also leads the Research Group on Ecotoxicology and Functional Biodiversity. It is the Scientific Vice-Coordinator of the Research Unit CESAM-Centre for Marine and Environmental Studies. Wide experience in participating in national and international assessment committees, for individual grants and projects, and also as a PI/coordinator of national and international R&D projects, involving European, Latin-American and Asian institutions. It has supervised-cosupervised over 80 PhD students, all concluded, and 40 post-doctoral researchers. Author / co-author of more than 780 papers published in ISI Web journals, with an h-index=64. Founder member and president (1996/97) of SETAC-Europe (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry), and main organizer of the 1st SETAC World Congress, held in Lisbon, 1993, and the 17th SETAC-Europe Annual meeting, in Porto, 2007. Received the following individuasl awards: 2004: ?Excellence Award? from the Portuguese Ministry of Science and Higher Education. 2007: SETAC Special Award, for the outstanding contribution for the environmental society. 2010: Galardão Gulbenkian/Oceanário de Lisboa: Sustainable Governance of the Oceans. 2013: SETAC-Europe Environmental Education Award, for his contribution to the dissemination and education, in particular at the post-graduate level, in the area of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Biology. 2015: top-30 in the Toxicology ranking LabTimes: in the top-30 of european reserachers most cited in the broad area of Toxicology, for the works published between 2005 and 2011; the Lasb Times ranking uses as source the data of ISI Web of Knowledge. Between 2013 and July 2016 was a grant holder of a Special Visiting Researcher by CAPES/CNPq and Special Permanent professor of the Post-Graduate Program "Vegetal Production" from UFT-Gurupi Campus, TO, Brasil; at the moment is Permanent professor attached to the research line «Plant protection/fitossanidade" of the same post-graduate program.
