Andre da Silva Ramos

André da Silva Ramos is a postdoctoral researcher in Social History by the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP), where he integrates the Laboratory of Studies on Brazil and the World System (Lab-Mundi). He holds a MA and a Ph.D. degree from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). The masters research (2011-2013) thematizes the experience of historical time in the historiographic works of the British historian Robert Southey. The Ph.D. research (2014-2018) investigates the experience of historicity in the writings of Machado de Assis, exploring its tensions with the modern understanding of history. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Lisbon (2012), Stanford University (2015-2016), and Wesleyan University (2016). He had been funded by CAPES, Cátedra Jaime Cortesão, and Fulbright, and he is a member of the Nucleus of Studies of History of Historiography and Modernity (NEHM-UFOP) and the Brazilian Society of Theory and History of Historiography (SBTHH). He was a temporary lecturer in the History Department of UFOP (2013-2014) and in the History Department of the Federal University of the Vales of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri (UFVJM) (2018-2020). Furthermore, he is the author of the book Robert Southey e a experiência da história: conceitos, linguagens, narrativas e metáforas cosmopolitas (SBTHH/Milfontes, 2019).

Professor de Teoria da História e História da Historiografia da Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG). Graduado, Mestre e Doutor em História pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP). Foi pesquisador visitante na Universidade de Lisboa (2012), na Stanford University (2015-2016) e na Wesleyan University (2016). Teve pesquisas financiadas pela CAPES, Cátedra Jaime Cortesão (USP) e Fulbright e é membro da Sociedade Brasileira de Teoria e História da Historiografia (SBTHH). É autor dos livros "Robert Southey e a experiência da história: conceitos, linguagens, narrativas e metáforas cosmopolitas" (SBTHH/Milfontes, 2019) e "Machado de Assis e a experiência da história: melancolia, raça e assombramento" (Fino Traço, 2023). Os seus interesses de pesquisa partem fundamentalmente dos campos da teoria da história e da história da historiografia e se constituem de forma transdisciplinar, especialmente no que tange aos diálogos entre história e literatura, história e psicanálise, abarcando interlocuções com a história do Brasil, a história do tempo presente e a história pública.
