Hugo Ricardo Zschommler Sandim

Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of Lorena (1986), Master's in Materials Engineering from the same institution (1991) and PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1996). Full Professorship in 2008 in the specialty "Metallic Materials" at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. Since 2017, he has been a Full Professor at the Department of Materials Engineering at the School of Engineering of Lorena (EEL-USP) and ad hoc advisor to FAPESP, CAPES, CNPq and FAPEMIG. He works in Materials Science and Engineering with an emphasis on Physical Metallurgy and Transformation Metallurgy on the topics: plastic deformation, recovery, recrystallization, grain growth, crystallographic texture, EBSD, primary processing of niobium and refractory metals, powder metallurgy and superconductivity in niobium and its compounds. Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials (Elsevier) since 2010 and Associate Editor of the journal Materials Research (SciELO) since 2022.

Formado em Engenharia Química pela Faculdade de Engenharia Química de Lorena (1986), Mestrado em Engenharia de Materiais pela mesma instituição (1991) e Doutorado em Engenharia Metalúrgica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1996). Professor Livre-Docente em 2008 na especialidade "Materiais Metálicos" pela Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo. Desde 2017, é Professor Titular do Departamento de Engenharia de Materiais da Escola de Engenharia de Lorena (EEL-USP) e assessor ad hoc da FAPESP, CAPES, CNPq e FAPEMIG. Atua em Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais com ênfase em Metalurgia Física e Metalurgia de Transformação nos temas: deformação plástica, recuperação, recristalização, crescimento de grão, textura cristalográfica, EBSD, processamento primário de nióbio e metais refratários, metalurgia do pó e supercondutividade em nióbio e seus compostos. Membro do corpo editorial (Editorial Board) do International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials (Elsevier) desde 2010 e Editor Associado do periódico Materials Research (SciELO) desde 2022.
