Luiz Gonzaga de França Lopes

Graduated in Chemistry from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (1992) and PhD in Physical Chemistry from University of São Paulo (1997). He held a postdoctoral internship in the United States, 1997-1998 at Boston College and was a visiting researcher between 2010-2011 at the National Cancer Institute/NIH/United States. He was director of the inorganic chemistry division of the Brazilian Chemical Society (2012-2014), Deputy Secretary (2018-2020), Vice-President (2020-2022) and is the current General Secretary of SBQ. He was associate editor of Química Nova (Publi SBQ) from 2014 to 2022. He was member of FUNCAP's scientific technical advisory board (2017-2021). He was coordinator of the Graduate Programs in Inorganic Chemistry (2003-2008) and Chemistry (2009-2010 and 2015-2020. He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Ceará. Leader of the Research Group (CNPQ) Bioinorganic, member of the INCT Tuberculosis Management Committee, Editor of the SBQ Electronic Bulletin, member of the BASis/INEP evaluator bank. He currently serves as Research Coordinator at the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at UFC.. He has experience in the field of Chemistry, with an emphasis on Bio-Inorganic Chemistry, working mainly on the following topics: metal-releasing complexes of NO/HNO, metallic compounds as possible therapeutic agents, metallopharmaceuticals, etc.

Possui graduação em Química Bacharelado pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (1992) e doutorado em Físico-Química pela Universidade de São Paulo (1997). Realizou estágio de pós-doutorado nos Estados Unidos, 1997-1998 no Boston College e foi pesquisador visitante entre 2010-2011 no National Cancer Institute/NIH/Estados Unidos. Foi diretor da divisão de química inorgânica da Sociedade Brasileira de Química (2012-2014), Secretário Adjunto (2018-2020), Vice-Presidente (2020-2022) sendo o atual Secretário Geral da SBQ. Foi editor associado da Química Nova (Publi SBQ) de 2014 a 2022. Foi membro da câmara de assessoramento técnico científico da FUNCAP (2017-2021). Foi coordenador dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Química Inorgânica (2003-2008) e em Química (2009-2010 e 2015-2020. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal do Ceará. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa (CNPQ) Bioinorgânica. Membro do Comitê Gestor do INCT Tuberculose. Editor do Boletim Eletrônico da SBQ. Integrante do banco de avaliadores do BASis/INEP. Atualmente exerce a função de Coordenador de Pesquisa da Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação da UFC. Tem experiência na área de Química, com ênfase em Química Bio-Inorgânica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: complexos metálicos liberadores de NO/HNO, compostos metálicos como possíveis agentes terapêuticos, metalofármacos, etc.
