Marco Antonio Macciola Rodrigues

Marco Antonio Macciola Rodrigues formou-se em Engenharia Elétrica, com ênfase em Eletrônica, em 1986, concluindo o mestrado (M.Sc.) em 1991 e o doutorado (D.Sc.) em 1999 pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Desenvolve suas atividades no Centro de Pesquisas de Energia Elétrica desde 1987, nas áreas de automação e proteção de sistemas elétricos, projeto e desenvolvimento de sistemas e algoritmos para análise de sinais medidos no sistema de potência e projeto de sistemas de aquisição de dados. É membro sênior do IEEE onde colaborou na Seção Rio de Janeiro, inclusive como presidente no período 2012-2013. É membro do Cigré atuando como coordenador do Comitê de Estudos B5 no período de 2016 a 2022, além de participar como membro em grupos de trabalho internacionais do CIGRÉ desde 2005. Tem atuado como coordenador e membro nas comissões técnicas do Seminário Técnico de Proteção e Controle (STPC) e do Simpósio de Automação de Sistemas de Potência (SIMPASE) e como relator no SNPTEE e no ERIAC. Também já atuou como professor convidado em curso de extensão da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, na área de proteção de sistemas elétricos.

Marco Antonio Macciola Rodrigues was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1964. He received the Engineering degree in electronics, the M.Sc. and the D.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Rio de Janeiro in 1986, 1991, and 1999, respectively. He has been working at the Electric Power Research Center (CEPEL) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, since 1987, in algorithms for data analysis, software design, automation, control and signal processing applications applied to power systems. He has been also an Invited Professor in a postgraduate course in protection for power systems, held at the University of Rio de Janeiro. His current research interests are signal processing, power system measurements, fault recording analysis automation, and power system automation and protection systems. Dr. Rodrigues is a Senior Member of IEEE and Member of Cigre (Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques) and of SBrT (the Brazilian Telecommunications Society). He served as volunteer in the IEEE Rio de Janeiro Section since 2008 and as president during 2012-2013. Since September 2016 he has been the convener of the Brazilian Study Committee B5 (Protection and Automation). He participates in the technical committee of the Brazilian Protection and Control Technical Seminary (STPC) since 2003, the technical committee of the Power Systems Automation Symposium (SIMPASE) since 2011, and as a special reporter in the Protection and Control Group (GPC) in the National Seminar of Production and Transmission of Electric Energy (SNPTEE), from 2016 to 2022.
