Mary Kalina Sarmento Batista
Mary Batista (MB) received her BSc degree in Chemistry (2001) from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Between 1998 and 2001 had scientific inititation grant (CNPq) and developed her research work in Synthesis and characterization of lanthanides complexes with organic ligands. In 2003 received her master degree in Chemistry from the same institution. From 2001 to 2003 had a master grant (CNPq) and developed the research work in ?Synthesis and characterization of zinc sulphides type Zn(1-X)MSX. Developed her PhD in Chemistry (Synthesis of peptide ligands and Synthesis of peptide chitosan derivatives) with FCT grant, received her PhD in 2008 from the University of Porto. Between 2009 and 2010 had pos-doc (FCT) in Instituto Tecnologico e Nuclear de Lisboa, were developed the research work in Synthesis the DOTA-like chelator bearing a thiol pendant arm for labeling biomolecules with radiometals for in vivo diagnostic and cancer therapy. Between 2011 and 2012 had visiting researcher grant (CAPES), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil in a PNPD project (MEC/CAPES e MCT/CNPq e MCT/FINEP ? 2007, Micro e nanocompósitos cimentícios para poços de petróleo). In 2013 started a post-doc grant (FCT) in collaboration between Adsorption and Adsorbent Materials Group from CQB (FCUL) and Chemical Engineering Reaction Group from REQUIMTE (UNL-FCT). Currently, she has been developing a study of the preparation of adsorbent materials from solid residues and by-product of biodiesel production. Her research interests have been focused on new carbon materials and advanced methodologies for emergent contaminants removal from water, and in the development of adsorbent materials for gas separation processes as is the case of gas mixtures (ethanol/ethane and propane/propene). Mary Batista has 11 publications in international indexed peer-reviewed journals (two of them in the top 10%), and 4 publications in national indexed peer-reviewed journals and H factor of 4 (79 citations by 69 documents). She has a bulletin in the Grupo Español de Carbón, 7 extended abstracts in international conference proceedings, one invited keynote, 6 oral communications and 29 posters. Within this thematic she supervised a final project of graduation and short terms internships in the DQB/FCUL. MB is presently an integrated member of CQB. Recently, CQB members felt that it would be important to gain critical mass for their research teams and decided to use the current restructuring/evaluation process of Portuguese R&D research units to merge with other excellent research centers. In this way, MB will be a collaborator member of CQE from January 1, 2019.
graduate at Química Licenciatura from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (2001) and master's at Chemistry from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (2003). Has experience in Chemistry, focusing on Chemistry, acting on the following subjects: lantanídeos, trifluorometanossulfonatos, bis pentametileno uréia, síntese and terras raras.
