Possui graduação em Engenharia Metalúrgica pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (1976), mestrado em Engenharia de Materiais pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (2004) e doutorado em Engenharia de Materiais pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (2009). Atualmente é professor do Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais - Campus Ouro Preto. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Metalúrgica, com ênfase em Cerâmicos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: self-diffusion, Fe2O3, hematite, sims, iron diffusion, oxygen diffusion, ZnO-Bi2O3 e varistor.
