Didia Bismara Cury

Didia Herminia Bismara Cury is an Italian / Brazilian doctor. Dr. Cury received her medical degree from University of Pelotas School of Medicine in 1995 and was a medical resident at the Hospital of the Santa Casa of Sao Paulo (internal Medicine), and resident of Gastroenterology at University Federal of São Paulo (UNIFESP) where she started her interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. In 2001 she started her Master?s degree at University of São Paulo (USP) in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group beginning her researches with experimental models of Colitis. This was followed by her visitor researcher activity in the Translational Medicine Group (Beth Israel Medical Center / Dr. Alan Moss) for 10 years while she concluded her doctorate (in three years) with the University Federal of São Paulo. Also, in 2001 she was one of the founding members of the Brazilian Study Group for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (GEDIIB). Dídia Bismara Cury was also the founder of the multidisciplinary course of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases in 2014, expanding the proposal to several countries (Canada, Italy, and Japan, besides the USA) in 2017 in conjunction with Harvard University, University of Toronto, University of Milan, and the University of Hiroshima. She is the director of the Brazilian Association of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis of the Central-Western Region of Brazil. In 2010 she published the first text book of intestinal Inflammatory Diseases of Brazil in partnership with Dr Alan Moss. She has written educational materials for physicians from all over Brazil in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Disease for the pharmaceutical industry such as Ferring, Abbvie, and Jansen with national distribution. Also, she produced didactic material for the Brazilian government on Differential Diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Dídia Bismara Cury has taught a number of classes about treatment and multidisciplinary approaches of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in pregnant women at many institutions and locations such as hospitals (Santa Casa of Sao Paulo), and congresses (Digestive Brazilian week, Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology). She has lectured on several Brazilian meetings. In 2007 she enjoyed the fellowship with Dr. Adam S. Cheifetz who is the instructor in medicine, director of the Inflammatory Bowel disease Center at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cury is the founder and director of the Scope Clinic's Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center in central Brazil, where she has been conducting several types of research with international publications. At the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), she was invited by the Professor Nestor Schor in 2010 to be the founder and coordinator of the stem-cell research line in Inflammatory Diseases in the Nephrology Group, resulting in the exhibition of this work in 2014 at the Digestive Disease Week. Dr. Cury worked with Dr. Alan Moss from July 2007 until 2017 with several studies published and relevant scientific presentations in important international meetings. Her expertise is in the areas of Medicine, Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Dr. Cury received her medical degree from Pontifícia Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS) in 1996, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Santa Casa de São Paulo. She is specialized in clinical gastroenterology, with greater interest in inflammatory bowel diseases at Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). Member of the Brazilian Federation of Clinical Gastroenterology (FBG). She received her Master's degree at the University of São Paulo (USP), and she is also specialist in intestinal inflammatory diseases with experimental models (completed in 2005). PhD at Federal University of São Paulo (concluded in 2009) in fellowship with the Harvard Group (BIDMC). She worked as a visitor researcher for the group of inflammatory bowel disease at Beth Israel Medical Center with Dr. Alan Moss (2007 to 2017). This fellowship gave birth to the first textbook on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases of Brazil, published in 2010 receiving the seal of the FBG. She is President of the I Workshop of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (Developing IBD Research Goals to Brazil) in fellowship with Dr. Alan Moss, which happens every two years. She is the director of the Clinical Scope Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Director of the Brazilian Crohn's and Colitis Association (ABCD) in the Midwest region (Campo Grande, MS), and she is also the founding member of the Brazilian Group of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases of Brazil (GEDIIB). She has been a reviewer for several international magazines.
