Jose Orlando Gomes

Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in the Department of Industrial Engineering and in the Graduate Program in Informatics and Associate Director of International Relations for the BRICS, at the Escola Politécnica. Collaborating Prof. at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and Visiting Prof. at the Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa. Graduated in Production Engineering from the University of São Paulo, Master's in Production Engineering-Work Process Area from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Ph.D. in Production Engineering, concentration in Ergonomics , by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1999) in partnership with the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers of Paris. He was a visiting researcher from 2002 to 2004 at the Cognitive Systems Engineering Lab (CSEL), coordinated by Prof. David Woods of the Institute for Ergonomics at The Ohio State University. Researcher at ICE (Interaction, Collaboration and Ergonomics Research Group) and Certified Ergonomist by Abergo (Brazilian Ergonomics Association). President of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) 2021-2024, Vice-President of the IEA in the 2015-2018 and 2018-2021 terms, Member of the Executive Board of BRICS Plus Network on Ergonomics, Member of the Fiscal Board of Abergo 2021-2023, Director of Ulaergo, since 2013. President of Abergo from 2009-2011 and 2012-2014.3, and President of the Latin American Ergonomics Union from 2010-2013. The areas of teaching, research and extension cover human factors engineering and ergonomics, work safety, cognitive and resilience engineering in complex systems such as emergency, aviation, the oil industry, in addition to being the author of several publications in journals, books and conferences.

Presidente da Abergo de 2009-2011 e 2012-2014.3, e Presidente da União Latino Americana de Ergonomia de 2010-2013. As áreas de ensino, pesquisa e extensão abrangem engenharia de fatores humanos e ergonomia, segurança do trabalho, engenharias cognitiva e de resiliência em sistemas complexos tais como emergência, aviação, indústria do petróleo, além de ser autor de várias publicações em periódicos, livros e conferências.
