Emerson Araújo Do Bú

Dr. Emerson Do Bú, currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Virginia's Department of Public Health Sciences, completed his PhD in Psychology with Summa Cum Laude distinction from the Faculty of Psychology and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon. During his doctoral studies, he served as a Visiting Scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University. He obtained a BA in Psychology at the Federal University of Campina Grande and a Master's degree in Social Psychology at the Federal University of Paraíba. His research focuses on how patients' skin color impacts healthcare providers' decision-making. He has been a part of several studies developed in Portugal, Brazil, and the United States. Some of these studies were published in international journals, such as the British Journal of Health Psychology, Stigma and Health, Current Psychology, Plos One, and Political Psychology. He possesses extensive expertise in the field of textual data analysis, which encompasses the utilization of tools such as Nvivo, QDAMiner, Alcest, Tri-Deux-Mots, and Iramuteq for conducting thematic and discourse analysis, as well as lexicographic analysis. Furthermore, he has substantial experience employing a diverse array of data analysis strategies, including multilevel analysis. He has programming experience in JavaScript, as well as data analysis software such as R, Mplus, JASP, JAMOVI, and SPSS.
