Silvia Fernanda de Mendonça Figueirôa

Geóloga pela Universidade de São Paulo (1981), mestre (1987) e doutora (1992) em História Social pela Universidade de São Paulo, ambos na especialidade da História das Ciências. Obteve a livre-docência em 2001 na Universidade Estadual de Campinas e tornou-se professora-titular em 2006. Seu pós-doutorado foi junto ao Centre Alexandre Koyré d'Histoire des Sciences et des Techniques (França, 2002). De 1987 até 2013 foi docente do Instituto de Geociências da UNICAMP, onde exerceu o cargo de Diretora (2009-2013). A partir de 2014, passou à Faculdade de Educação da UNICAMP. Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em História das Ciências, assim em Ensino de (Geo)Ciências e na temática de arquivos científicos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: História das ciências e das Geociências, com ênfase no Brasil; relações entre história das ciências e ensino; documentação científica / tecnológica. Atua na graduação e na pós-graduação, orientando pesquisas de iniciação científica, mestrado e doutorado, bem somo supervisionando pós-doutorados. Participa das seguintes associações científicas: Membro, desde 1987, da International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences (INHIGEO ? IUPHS/IUGS), ocupando a presidência de 2008 a 2012; Presidente da Sociedade Latino-americana de História da Ciência e da Tecnologia (SLHCT) (1995-1998); Councillor (1997-1999 e 2015-2017), President-ellect (1999-2001) e President (2001-2002) da History of Earth Sciences Society (HESS); Presidente da International Commission ?Science & Empires? (IUPHS-DHS) (2001 a 2005). Membro Correspondente da International Academy of the History of Sciences (IAHS) (a partir de 2019). Tem dois filhos, nascidos em 1993 e 1999 (#parentinscience).

Graduated in Geology from the University of São Paulo (1981), Master Degree (1987) and PhD (1992) in Social History from the University of São Paulo, both in the History of Science. Obtained the Habilitation in 2001 at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and became Full Professor in 2006. Postdoctoral studies at the Centre Alexandre Koyre d'Histoire des Sciences et des Techniques (France, 2002). From 1987 to 2013 she was faculty member of the Institute of Geosciences of Unicamp, where he served as Director (2009-2013). From 2014, he moved to the Faculty of Education-UNICAMP. She works in history of sciences and technology (especially in Brazil), on Geosciences Education, and on scientific archives. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, directing undergraduate works, master's and doctoral dissertations, and supervises postdocs. She belongs to the following scientific associations: Member, since 1987, of the International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences (INHIGEO - IUPHS / IUGS), occupying the presidency from 2008 to 2012; President of the Latin American Society of History of Science and Technology (SLHCT) (1995-1998); Councilor (1997-1999 and 2015-2017), President-ellect (1999-2001) and President (2001-2002) of the History of Earth Sciences Society (HESS); President of the International Commission "Science & Empires" (IUPHS-DHS) (2001-2005). Since 2019 she is Corresponding Member of the International Academy of the History of Sciences (IAHS). She is mother of two children, born in 1993 and 1999 (#parentinscience).
