Thiago Macek Gonçalves Zahn

Doutorando no Programa de Semiótica e Linguística Geral da Universidade de São Paulo (desde 8/2018), Mestre em Biologia Evolutiva pela Universidade de São Paulo (2016), Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade de São Paulo (2008), Especialização em Geoprocessamento no Centro Universitário SENAC. Tenho experiência em consultoria ambiental na área de fauna, incluindo análises ecológicas e modelagens. Traduzo e reviso textos técnicos, científicos e outros em inglês, português, espanhol e alemão. Curso Letras - Linguística/Português na Universidade de São Paulo (FFLCH-USP) desde 2016. Meu principal interesse atual em pesquisa está ligado a relações e paralelos entre evolução/mudança/diversificação em linguística e na biologia, bem como em outros sistemas, e como a teoria evolutiva é utilizada e ajuda a fornecer explicações para além da biologia. Outros interesses em pesquisa incluem evolução morfológica e fenotípica, mamíferos (particularmente carnívoros), biologia evolutiva em geral, ecologia e evolução (e suas relações), evolução humana, evolução cultural, e abordagens interdisciplinares em evolução, ecologia, linguística, antropologia e outras áreas.

PhD candidate at the Semiotics and General Linguistics Graduate Programme at the University of São Paulo (since 8/2018), MSc. in Evolutionary Biology at the University of São Paulo (2016), BSc. in Biology at the University of São Paulo (2008), specialisation in Geoprocessing at the SENAC University Centre. Experience as an environmental consultant in Faunistic analysis, working with ecological analyses and modelling. I also work as a translator and proofreader for technical, scientific and other text styles in English, Portuguese, Spanish and German. I am currently pursuing a second Undergraduate Programme in Language and Literature - Portuguese/ Linguistics at the University of São Paulo (since 2016). My main current research interests lie in relationships and parallels between evolution/change/diversification in linguistics and biology (as well as in other systems), and in how evolutionary theory is used and helps provide explanations beyond biology. Other of my research interests include morphological/ phenotypic evolution, mammals (especially Carnivores), evolutionary biology in general, ecology and evolution (and the links between them), human evolution, cultural evolution, and interdisciplinary approaches applied to evolution, ecology, linguistics, anthropology and other fields.
