Paulo Giácomo Milani

He holds a doctorate in Space Science - Orbital Mechanics from the National Institute for Space Research (1997), a Master's Degree in Space Science - Orbital Mechanics from the National Institute of Space Research (1986) and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the School of Engineering Mauá (1981). He is currently a senior technologist at the National Institute of Space Research. Has experience in Aerospace Engineering, with an emphasis on control and electronics, working mainly on the following topics: infrastructure for real-time simulation with hardware in the control loop, real-time control, GPS, inertial sensors and MEMS. He was coordinator of the DLR / CTA / INPE agreement from 1998 to 2006. Manager of the INPE SubOrbital Platform Project from 1996 to 2000. He has been manager of the Satellite Control Systems Simulation Laboratory since 1989. From 2008 to 2016 he served as sub-coordinator of the Advanced Inertial Systems Project (SIA) financed by Finep, a project with the participation of IEAv, ITA, IAE and INPE. He graduated as a Third Engineer of the Brazilian Merchant Navy and joined the reserve as a second lieutenant in 1974. He held this position on Brazilian ships for two years through the ports of the Mediterranean, Black, Indian, Red and Atlantic oceans.

Possui doutorado em Ciência Espacial - Mecânica Orbital pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (1997), mestrado em Ciência Espacial - Mecânica Orbital pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (1986) e graduação em Engenharia Elétrica Modalidade Eletrônica pela Escola de Engenharia Mauá (1981). Atualmente é Tecnologista sênior do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Aeroespacial, com ênfase em controle e eletrônica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: infraestrutura para simulação em tempo real com hardware na malha de controle, controle em tempo real, GPS, sensores inerciais e MEMS. Foi coordenador do convênio DLR/CTA/INPE de 1998 a 2006. Gerente do Projeto Plataforma SubOrbital do INPE de 1996 a 2000. É gerente do Laboratório de Simulação de sistemas de controle de satélites desde 1989. De 2008 até 2016 atuou como sub-coordenador do Projeto Sistemas Inerciais Avançados (SIA) financiado pela Finep, projeto com a participação do IEAv, ITA, IAE e INPE. Formou-se como Terceiro Oficial de Máquinas na Marinha Mercante Brasileira e passou à reserva como segundo tenente em 1974. Exerceu essa função em navios brasileiros por dois anos pelos portos dos mares Mediterrâneo, Negro, Índico, Vermelho e Atlântico.
