LUIZ AUGUSTO TOLEDO MACHADO

Bachelor's and Master's degree in Meteorology from the University of São Paulo (1981 and 1984), Diplôme D'études Approfondies Oceanologieie - Universite de Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) (1989) and PhD in Sciences de La Vie - Universite de Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) (1992). He was a visiting researcher at NASA/GISS and LMD/France. Member of the Faculty of INPE PGMET. Retired researcher at the National Institute of Space Research and leader of the research group - remote sensing of the atmosphere. Currently visiting researcher at the Max Plack Institut for Chemistry and USP Physical Institute . He has experience in meteorology, with emphasis on Remote Sensing of the Atmospheric Sensing, nowcasting and tropical convection, working mainly on the following topics: convection, climatology and convective system. He serves or served as Coordinator of the Expert Team in Satellite Utilization and Products (WMO), member of the Expert Team on the Evolution of the Global Observing System (WMO), member of the International Commission on Clouds and Precipitation, member of the Scientific Council of IRD-France (Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement), member of the ARM Scientific Board, member of the ATTO SSC, and Area coordinator (Geosciences) of FAPESP. He was Head of the Atmospheric Sciences Division of the IAE, the Division of Satellites and Environmental Systems of INPE and Coordinator of CPTEC. He received the CAPES award, as advisor, best Geosciences Thesis 2017 and Peter Muranyi Award - Innovation and Technology in 2018 and top download paper 2020 Meteorological Application.

Foi pesquisador visitante da NASA/GISS e do LMD/França. Membro do corpo Docente da PGMET do INPE. Pesquisador aposentado do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais e líder do grupo de pesquisa - sensoriamento remoto da atmosfera. Pesquisador visitante do Instituto de Física da USP e colaborador no Max Plack Institut for Chemistry. Tem experiência na área de Meteorologia, com ênfase em Sensoriamento Remoto da Atmosfera e Previsão Imediata e convecção tropical, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: convecção, climatologia e sistema convectivo. Atua ou atuou como Coordenador do Expert Team in Satellite Utilization and Products (WMO), membro do Expert Team on the Evolution of the Global Observing System (WMO), membro do International Commission on Clouds and Precipitation, membro do Conselho Científico do IRD- França (Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement), membro do ARM Scientific Board, membro do SSC do ATTO e Assessor de área (Geociências) da FAPESP. Foi Chefe da Divisão de Ciências Atmosféricas do IAE, da Divisão de Satélites e Sistemas Ambientais do INPE e Coordenador do CPTEC. Recebeu o prêmio CAPES, como orientador, melhor Tese Geociências 2017 e Prêmio Peter Muranyi - Inovação e Tecnologia em 2018 e top download paper 2020 Meteorological Application.
