Thiago de Araujo Mastrangelo

Agricultural engineer by the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP) (2002-2006), Master of Science (2007-2009, CNPq fellowship) and DSc. (2009-2011, FAPESP fellowship) by the University of São Paulo (CENA/USP). Currently working as a Professor at CENA/USP, being responsible for the LIARE laboratory (Food Irradiation and Radioentomology Laboratory). Performed part of the MSc. project in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at Seibersdorf- Austria (2008), and part of the doctoral project in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA-ARS) and the Comisión Panamá-Estados Unidos para la Erradicación y Prevención del Gusano Barredor del Ganado (COPEG) at Panamá (2011). Speaks three languages. Has experience in the Sterile Insect Technique, biological control of insect pests, food defense, food irradiation, and the application of nuclear techniques in agriculture and livestock.

Engenheiro Agrônomo pela Universidade de São Paulo - ESALQ/USP (2002-2006), Mestre (2007-2009, bolsista CNPq) e Doutor (2009-2011, bolsista FAPESP) pela Universidade de São Paulo - CENA/USP. Atualmente, é Professor Doutor do CENA/USP, responsável pelo Laboratório de Irradiação de Alimentos e Radioentomologia (LIARE). Realizou parte do Mestrado na International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) em Seibersdorf-Áustria (2008), e parte do Doutorado no United States Department of Agriculture (USDA-ARS) e na Comisión Panamá-Estados Unidos para la Erradicación y Prevención del Gusano Barredor del Ganado (COPEG) no Panamá (2011). É fluente em três idiomas. As linhas de pesquisa em que vem atuando estão relacionadas com entomologia agrícola, controle biológico de pragas, defesa agropecuária, irradiação de alimentos, entomofagia e com a aplicação de técnicas nucleares e correlatas na agricultura e pecuária.
