Geruza Rezende Paiva formou-se em Medicina na Universidade do Vale do Sapucaí - UNIVÁS, Minas Gerais (1997) e tornou-se Cirurgiã Geral no Programa de Residência de Cirurgia (1999) na mesma Universidade.
Especializada em Cirurgia Plástica Reconstrutiva (2002), obteve o Mestrado em Cirurgia Plástica (2004), da Universidade Federal de São Paulo - UNIFESP, São Paulo.
Tornou-se professora assistente de Cirurgia da Universidade Federal de Rondônia, na Amazônia (2004) e, desde então, tem desenvolvido experiência em cirurgia reconstrutiva, com ênfase no tratamento de câncer de pele e trabalhou como cirurgiã plástica em fissura labiopalatina no programa de um hospital da comunidade de Rio Branco, no Acre.
Doutorado obtido no Programa de Doutorado em Bases Gerais da Cirurgia da Universidade Estadual de São Paulo - UNESP, Botucatu: ?Células-tronco na neurorrafia látero-terminal. Estudo experimental em ratos.?
