holds a Bachelor of Theology (Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule St. Georgen Frankfurt am Main: 1989), a Master of History (Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo: 2013), a PhD in Theology (Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule St. Georgen Frankfurt am Main: 1995) and Post Doctorate in Theology (PUC-Rio: 2016). He is a professor at the Theology Faculty of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). He teaches in the area of Biblical Literature, working in the disciplines of Old Testament (Pentateuch, Prophets and Wisdom Books), History of Israel and biblical Hebrew. Since 2011, he leads the TIAT Research Group (Old Testament Translation and Interpretation).

Desde 2011, lidera o Grupo de Pesquisa TIAT (Tradução e Interpretação do Antigo Testamento) e, desde, 2021, é membro da Society of Biblical Literature.
