Giseli Buffon

Formada em Ciências Biológicas, Licenciatura pela Universidade do Vale do Taquari - UNIVATES (2012). Mestre em Biotecnologia pelo Programa de Pós Graduação em Biotecnologia da Universidade do Vale do Taquari - UNIVATES (2015) e Doutora em Biotecnologia pela mesma instituição, na área de Biotecnologia Agroalimentar (2019). Possui experiência na área de Docência, ministrando cursos e palestras e na área de Biotecnologia. Atuou em diversos temas, como: Genética, Bioquímica, Biologia Molecular, Proteômica, Biofísica Molecular Computacional, Biologia Estrutural, Fisiologia Vegetal e principalmente com respostas de plantas a estresses bióticos, como a infestação de ácaros fitófagos em plantas de arroz. Atualmente é CEO da Syntalgae, uma empresa de base tecnológica focada em Pesquisa, Desenvolvimento & Inovação cuja missão é disponibilizar a rica biodiversidade de microalgas para substituir produtos convencionalmente sintetizados a base de petróleo, em produtos naturais renováveis e desenvolver produtos inovadores para as indústrias do agronegócio, alimentos, química, de cosméticos e farmacêutica. Em 2020 foi agraciada com o prêmio Nova Dimensão e uma Menção Honrosa do Prêmio CAPES Tese na área de Biotecnologia - Edição 2020 - pelo trabalho intitulado: Desvendando os mecanismos de tolerância de plantas de arroz à infestação do ácaro Schizotetranychus oryzae (ACARI:TETRANYCHIDAE).

Graduated in Biological Sciences, Bachelor's Degree from the University of Vale do Taquari - UNIVATES (2012). Master's Degree in Biotechnology from the Graduate Program in Biotechnology of the University of Vale do Taquari - UNIVATES (2015) and PhD in Biotechnology from the same institution, in the area of Agri-Food Biotechnology (2019). She has experience in Teaching, teaching courses and lectures and in the area of Biotechnology. He has worked on several topics, such as: Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Proteomics, Computational Molecular Biophysics, Structural Biology, Plant Physiology and mainly with plant responses to biotic stresses, such as infestation of phytophagous mites in rice plants. She is currently CEO of Syntalgae, a technology-based company focused on Research, Development & Innovation whose mission is to make available the rich biodiversity of microalgae to replace conventionally synthesized petroleum-based products with renewable natural products and to develop innovative products for the agribusiness, food, chemical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. In 2020 she was awarded the New Dimension Award and an Honorable Mention from the CAPES Thesis Award in the Biotechnology area - 2020 Edition - for her work entitled: Unraveling the mechanisms of tolerance of rice plants to infestation by the mite Schizotetranychus oryzae (ACARI:TETRANYCHIDAE)
