Leonard Medeiros da Silva

Atualmente é Patologista na OCPM (Oncoclínicas Precision Medicine), unidade de Medicina de Precisão do Grupo Oncoclínicas. Patologista com treinamento realizado no Instituto Nacional do Câncer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2002-2005) e formação complementar na Universidade de Queensland, Brisbane, Australia (2005-2011). Entre 2005 e 2007 Dr. da Silva foi Clinical Reserach Fellow em patologia molecular e mamária no laboratório de Patologia Mamária sob supervisão do Professor Sunil R. Lakhani na Universidade de Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Entre 2008 a 2011, Dr. da Silva foi Senior Lecturer na disciplina de Patologia Molecular e Celular e Registrar in Anatomical Pathology no Royal Brisbane and Women´s Hospital. Possui doutorado na área de Patologia, com tese defendida em 2009 na Escola Paulista de Medicina, São Paulo, Brazil, sob orientação do Professor Marcello Fabiano de Franco e com o tema 'Mecanismos de Câncer de Mama Metastático para o Cérebro'. Os resultados da tese de Doutorado foram publicados no periódico Breast Cancer Research em 2010. Em 2019 Dr. da Silva contribuiu como coautor para a elaboração de 05 capítulos do livro da Classificação de Tumores da Mama da Organização Mundial da Saúde. Dr da Silva is currently a Pathologist - Oncoclínicas Group. Pathologist with training at the National Cancer Institute, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2002-2005) and additional training at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia (2005-2011). Between 2005 and 2007 Dr. da Silva was a Clinical Research Fellow in molecular and mammary pathology in the Mammary Pathology laboratory under the supervision of Professor Sunil R. Lakhani at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. During this period, Dr. da Silva performed histopathological analysis of triple negative breast cancer, lobular carcinoma, special subtypes of breast cancer and familial breast cancer. In the molecular field, he participated in the execution of experiments involving comparative genomic hybridization to study clonal evolution in breast cancer, sequencing and methylation and proteomic studies of the E-cadherin gene, gene expression analysis using cDNA microarray technology, biology experiments molecular study involving co-culture of breast cancer cell lines with neurospheres and development of an animal model in mice for analysis of therapeutic response and mechanisms of metastatic breast cancer to the brain, with emphasis on the HER1/2/3/4 family of receptors. From 2008 to 2011, Dr. da Silva was Senior Lecturer in Molecular and Cellular Pathology and Registrar in Anatomical Pathology at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. During this period, he participated in the preparation and execution of classes for medical students at the University of Queensland, incorporated the experiments carried out during the Clinical Research Fellowship in his doctoral thesis in the field of Pathology, defended in 2009 at Escola Paulista de Medicina, São Paulo, Brazil, under the guidance of Marcello Fabiano de Franco and with the theme ?Mechanisms of Metastatic Breast Cancer to the Brain?. The results of the PhD thesis were published in the Breast Cancer Research journal in 2010. In 2019, Dr. da Silva contributed as a co-author to the preparation of 05 chapters of the World Health Organization's Classification of Breast Tumors book.
